Sunderland have confirmed that Timothée Pembélé has left the club to join Ligue 1 side Le Havre on a permanent deal.
The right-back spent two loan spells with Le Havre over the past two seasons, and with regular minutes on Wearside unlikely he has now moved back permanently. The club said in a statement that he had joined the French side and sent their best wishes for the next step of his career.
The move ends his three-year association with the club after he joined from PSG on deadline day in summer 2023. He initially struggled with injury and fitness and departs having made eight appearances.
No fee has been disclosed, and Sunderland are unlikely to have recouped much, if any, of what they paid for the right-back. The move gives the 23-year-old the chance to kickstart his career and frees up space on Sunderland’s wage bill.
During his two loans with Le Havre he featured 35 times in Ligue 1.
