Sunderland supporters stayed with the team at the Stadium of Light despite a 5-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

According to Sunderland Echo, many remained until the final whistle, continuing to back Régis Le Bris’ side on a bruising night.

Forest were 4-0 up at half-time and added a late fifth, leaving Sunderland with work to do over the final weeks of the Premier League season.

Sections of the home crowd tried to lift the players, with applause and encouragement audible throughout the second half.

It has mirrored much of this campaign, with supporters sticking by the team during difficult spells.
