Sunderland will have a front-of-shirt sponsor for 2026-27 despite online claims they could go sponsorless.

According to Sunderland Echo, the club will announce a new commercial partner in due course, with the identity yet to be confirmed.

The Hummel home shirt was unveiled on Tuesday without front branding, a clean look that pleased many fans and sparked debate.

The club had already indicated during the away kit launch that supporters who buy early can later add the sponsor, with process details to follow once the deal is revealed.

Launching unbranded appears to reflect the timing of the agreement rather than a plan to remain sponsorless.
