Sunderland launch 2026/27 hummel keeper kits honouring Jimmy Montgomery | OneFootball

According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland have launched three goalkeeper kits for the 2026/27 season, a bespoke collection honouring club great Jimmy Montgomery.

Montgomery, a hero of the 1973 campaign and the club’s record appearance holder with 627, inspires the designs. The home shirt mirrors the green and red he wore in the Wembley win over Leeds United.

His signature sits at the back of the neck on all three shirts, and the away option is yellow with the autograph repeated across the fabric. The third is orange, featuring the club’s old ship crest with 627 picked out in darker orange.

The range is on sale online and in club stores, priced at £65 for adult short-sleeve, £70 for adult long-sleeve, £50 for junior short-sleeve and £55 for junior long-sleeve.

Chief commercial officer Scott McCubbin said Montgomery’s influence is woven into the club, and that the collection both pays tribute to his achievements and sets standards for every goalkeeper who wears the shirt. He added the launch was designed to carry the weight of that legacy.

The kits form part of wider recognition, after the West Stand was renamed The Jimmy Montgomery stand ahead of 2025/26. A new statue has been commissioned for the end of Legend’s Way, expected in early 2027, with Bob Stokoe’s statue to be moved alongside.
