Sunderland have 13 players out on loan this season and, according to Sunderland Echo, their campaigns range from thriving to stop-start.
Simon Adingra has settled at Monaco, scoring three in seven Ligue 1 games, including a February brace against Nantes, and if this continues Monaco will surely trigger the £16m option.
Anthony Patterson is starting regularly for Millwall, with three clean sheets as they push for automatic promotion. Dan Neil has been rotated at Ipswich and helped them move within two points of Boro.
Jenson Seelt’s Wolfsburg loan has been turbulent, with a DFB-Pokal red card, then an own goal and a conceded penalty in a 4-3 loss to Freiburg. He has not played since due to a knee injury, and Wolfsburg are 17th.
Arthur Masuaku has barely featured at Lens, Leo Hjelde has 51 minutes in five for Sheffield United, and Timothee Pembele has seven for Le Havre with only one win.
Alan Browne has been a major positive for Middlesbrough, covering multiple roles including a makeshift number nine, while Ajibola Alese has only four minutes for Portsmouth before a thigh injury.
Nazariy Rusyn has four goals in 19 for Arka Gdynia, though his minutes have dipped recently. Niall Huggins has been inconsistent at Wycombe but impressed in a 4-0 win over Doncaster.
Luis Semedo is now starting regularly for Moreirense, scoring two in 16. Zak Johnson has become a 90-minute regular at York City, with one goal in 19, and they are second with the division’s second-best defence.
