Sunderland name 26-man USA tour squad as Anthony Patterson travels, Jocelin Ta Bi has visa issue | OneFootball

Sunderland have named an initial 26-player squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, with Anthony Patterson travelling and Jocelin Ta Bi facing a visa issue.

According to Sunderland Echo, Régis Le Bris’ side head to Nashville to play Liverpool on Saturday, July 25, then Leeds United in New Jersey on Thursday, July 30, before Wrexham in Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 2.

Patterson is included despite uncertainty over his future, having missed the 5-1 win at York City while interest from several Championship clubs has yet to yield an agreement. Dan Ballard also travels after Le Bris said the defender was expected to rejoin full training and gain his first pre-season minutes in America.

Romaine Mundle is selected after precautionary absence at York, while Timur Tutierov travels after signing a new contract and scoring at the LNER Community Stadium. Academy call-ups include Trey Ogunsuyi, Finn Geragusian, Tom Proctor, Felix Scott, Jaydon Jones, Jenson Jones, Ben Kindon, Archie Lightfoot, Jack Whittaker and Charlie Dinsdale.

Brian Brobbey, Nilson Angulo, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Simon Adingra, Arthur Masuaku and Noah Sadiki will join on July 26 following FIFA World Cup involvement. Granit Xhaka, Chemsdine Talbi, Omar Alderete and new signing Thomas Meunier progressed to the latter stages, so they will link up later in pre-season and will not travel to the United States.

Ta Bi’s visa application was rejected for not meeting entry criteria, and Sunderland have appealed, remaining hopeful the winger can join the tour in the coming days.
