Sunderland’s ownership group moved to underline their commitment to the club and plans for next season after Premier League safety, following a report of a possible sale.
Footbiz reports that potential investors were told the club was available and that US investment bank Moelis had been retained. Moelis have previously been involved in the sale of Chelsea.
The owners did not directly deny those claims, instead stressing they remain entirely committed and that Sunderland are aggressively planning for a second Premier League campaign.
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus holds a 64% stake and Juan Sartori 36%, with ownership through Mercator. The club sits within their wider sporting portfolio via Bia Sports Group.
Several Bia executives currently occupy senior roles at Sunderland, some on an interim basis. Bia chief executive Tom Burwell is a non-executive director and interim chief executive following David Bruce’s departure. Scott McCubbin is interim chief revenue officer, and Mike Papadimitriou is chief financial officer.
