Sunderland play down Noé Lebreton links after claims they were ‘close to signing’ | OneFootball

Sunderland have poured cold water on a move for Noé Lebreton, insisting there is no active interest in the NEC Nijmegen midfielder.

FourFourTwo reported the Black Cats were close to adding the French attacking midfielder to Régis Le Bris’ squad.

Lebreton, 22, joined NEC from Caen last summer and produced seven goals and six assists across 27 Eredivisie appearances.

His performances helped NEC finish third and secure a place in the Champions League third qualifying round, and the link had seemed plausible given recent dealings between the clubs.

Sunderland remain active in the market as they prepare for a campaign involving Premier League and Europa League football.
