Sunderland resume after the international break with seven Premier League games to chase a top-half finish, and perhaps a tilt at Europe, starting with Tottenham.
According to Sunderland Echo, 12 April, Tottenham at home, Spurs are 17th with form LLLDL. Robert De Zeri’s impact is unclear, though they still carry threats. Prediction: Sunderland 3-1 Tottenham.
On 19 April at Villa Park, Aston Villa sit 4th with form DLLLW, buoyed by a 2-0 win over West Ham. Their home record is imposing. Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Sunderland.
On 24 April, Nottingham Forest visit, 16th with form LLDDW. A 3-0 win at Tottenham may lift them, but home advantage should tell. Prediction: Sunderland 2-0 Nottingham Forest.
On 02 May at Molineux, Wolves are 20th yet recent form DLWWD hints at life. Adam Armstrong finally scored at Brentford. Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Sunderland.
On 09 May, Manchester United come to the Stadium of Light, 3rd with form WWLWD. Michael Carrick’s side have quality and pace. Prediction: Sunderland 1-2 Man Utd.
On 17 May, Everton away, 8th with form LWWLW. Sunderland won there on penalties after a 1-1 FA Cup draw, but Everton now look robust. Prediction: Everton 2-0 Sunderland.
On 24 May, Chelsea end the campaign at home, 6th with form DLWLL. Inconsistency and a switch to Liam Rosenior colour their season. Prediction: Sunderland 1-1 Chelsea.
