According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland told fan groups the club now has a £200 million turnover with a global reach, and the owners plan a significant summer investment programme in club infrastructure, working with Delaware.
Regis Le Bris led a seventh-place finish on the club’s Premier League return, securing Europa League football. The business and football operations will be prudently scaled this summer while maintaining ties with the local community.
Recent organisational changes were described as strategic rather than reactive. The club contrasted the new position with a £44 million turnover previously confined to a 30-mile radius, underlining the need to be competitive in a wider market.
Planned works include refitting hospitality boxes and refurbishing any 30-year-old areas. The club will expand safe standing, add entry enhancements aimed to deliver a wow factor, and invest significantly in the academy.
LED upgrades are set to boost revenue and improve the matchday experience. Further matchday enhancements are planned.
Those present at the mid-May Supporters’ Collective Meeting included interim CEO Tom Burwell and director of football Florent Ghisolfi, alongside Paul Kingsmore, Georgi Rusev, Steve Wood, Emily Jewitt and Chris Waters. Fan groups attending included the Branch Liaison Council, Red and White Army and the Senior Supporters Association, plus individual supporters.
