Sunderland reveal 2026/27 hummel goalkeeper kits honouring Jimmy Montgomery | OneFootball

Sunderland have unveiled three bespoke hummel goalkeeper shirts for 2026/27, a collection honouring club great Jimmy Montgomery.

According to Sunderland Echo, the home design mirrors the green and red worn in the 1973 Wembley win over Leeds United, nodding to the heroics that defined Montgomery’s legacy as the club’s record appearance maker with 627.

His signature is positioned at the back of the neck on all three shirts and is repeated across a yellow away. The third option is orange, carries the old ship crest and repeats 627 in a darker shade.

All three shirts are on sale online and in club stores. Prices are £65 for adult short-sleeve, £70 for adult long-sleeve, £50 for junior short-sleeve and £55 for junior long-sleeve.

The launch follows broader recognition of Montgomery’s contribution, with the West Stand renamed The Jimmy Montgomery stand ahead of 2025/26.

A new statue has been commissioned for the end of Legend’s Way and is expected to be installed in early 2027. Bob Stokoe’s statue will be relocated to stand alongside it, echoing the famous post-match images from 1973.
