Sunderland are on course for record revenues after promotion, with mid-table form pointing to a major uplift. According to Football Insider, the Black Cats are tracking to beat their previous best and could bank more than £130m if they hold their position.
Their 2024-25 accounts show revenue rising from £38.2m to £40.3m in the promotion-winning season, and current Premier League income is expected to top the club-record £126m set in 2016-17.
Régis Le Bris’s side sit 11th after a dramatic 2-1 win at St James’ Park. Sustaining that level could boost long-term sustainability and transfer capacity as the recruitment model evolves under sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
On Tyneside, Brian Brobbey’s late winner sparked jubilant scenes. He tore off his shirt in front of the Newcastle supporters and beat his chest, footage that quickly went viral.
“Not for that. I trained hard, yeah, I trained very hard,” he said. “I have been to the gym a lot. Naturally, I was very happy. It’s a derby.” He was speaking to ESPN.
“No, that doesn’t have to have anything to do with the Netherlands at all. I was just very happy.”
