Sunderland have been linked with three high-profile targets, a package that could reach £77m, as Florent Ghisolfi weighs options ahead of the new season.
According to Tele Radio Stereo, Sunderland have asked Roma for information on Matias Soulé, 23, valued at just over €35m, around £30m. It is understood to be an enquiry only, and there is a Ghisolfi connection after he helped take Soulé to Roma from Juventus in 2024.
Soulé, a left-footed right winger, stood out for dribbling and creativity during a loan at Frosinone before joining Roma. Borussia Dortmund have also been credited with interest, while the player is reportedly not tempted by Saudi Arabia.
Parma centre-back Mariano Troilo has also been linked, with claims in Italy that Fulham had an offer of about €20m, roughly £17m, rejected. Leeds United and Sunderland are said to be in the frame, and Parma are thought to want more than £17m before serious talks.
Troilo, 23, joined from Belgrano for around €8m, or £6.8m, and impressed in Serie A during the second half of last season. Parma are in no rush to sell, and reports suggest his value could rise.
Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović has further been linked, with suggestions Sunderland and Bournemouth could make concrete moves, with Juventus some way behind. He is estimated at €25m to €35m, approximately £21.5m to £30m, and Juventus are reported to hold a buy-back clause of about €18m, or £15.5m. Across the three players, potential fees would sit between £68.5m and £77m. Sunderland’s first team return to training at the Academy of Light today.
