According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland’s latest transfer lines include a £25m link to Celtic’s Arne Engels, a Rennes push for Eliezer Mayenda and goalkeeper updates.
Sunderland are credited with interest in Engels. Nottingham Forest and Fulham are also said to be keen, with Forest’s January bids reportedly reaching £25m.
Foot Mercato reports that Stade Rennais are making a strong push to sign Mayenda. The striker is understood to want more regular football, though he is under contract until 2030.
Reports in France suggest Monaco have not triggered the permanent option in Simon Adingra’s loan, so he is set to return to Wearside. He posted one goal and one assist in 15 Sunderland outings before moving mid-season.
Alan Nixon reports Huddersfield Town are plotting a loan for academy goalkeeper Matty Young, who has senior experience at Darlington and Salford City. Nixon also links Wrexham and Millwall with Anthony Patterson, valued at £8m to £10m.
Ben Jacobs says Blackburn Rovers have had a bid for former Sunderland academy forward Sam Greenwood rejected by Pogon Szczecin, an initial £650,000 rising to £1m. Harrison Jones has joined Peterborough United on a free with a sell-on. According to The Northern Echo, Alan Browne will not return to Middlesbrough and, despite rejoining the Sunderland group, is still expected to depart this summer.
