Transfer noise around Sunderland features a link to Celtic midfielder Arne Engels and a push from Rennes for Eliezer Mayenda. There are goalkeeper claims and movement elsewhere in the squad.
Sunderland Echo understands Mayenda wants to leave this summer for more minutes. The striker is contracted until 2030, leaving the club in a strong negotiating position.
Foot Mercato reports that Stade Rennais are making a strong push to sign him as a new attacking target, which could offer a route back to French football.
Sunderland are credited with interest in Celtic’s Arne Engels, with Nottingham Forest also linked. Forest reportedly had January bids rejected, the last at £25million, and are believed to remain keen. Engels, 22, has four Belgium caps and is under contract until 2028.
Reports in France have suggested Monaco have opted against triggering the permanent option on Simon Adingra’s loan. The winger joined last summer and produced one goal and one assist in 15 games before moving in January.
Academy goalkeeper Matty Young has been linked with a loan to Huddersfield Town. Wrexham and Millwall have been linked with Anthony Patterson, who is said to be valued at £8million to £10million. Blackburn Rovers reportedly had a £650,000 bid, rising to £1million, for ex-Sunderland forward Sam Greenwood rejected.
Harrison Jones has joined Peterborough United, understood to be a free with a sell-on clause. According to The Northern Echo, Alan Browne will not return to Middlesbrough next season and is still expected to leave after reporting back to Sunderland.
