Sunderland face significant contract calls as eight deals are due to expire this summer, with their European push on hold for two weeks.
According to Sunderland Echo, the 2026 group comprises Simon Moore, Bertrand Traore, Dennis Cirkin and Harrison Jones, loanee Lutsharel Geertruida, plus loaned out Niall Huggins, Zak Johnson and Dan Neil.
Last weekend’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James Park was settled late by Brian Brobbey, sealing a league double over Newcastle United.
The result left Sunderland three points off the top seven and a further three from the top five.
Seven matches remain, with home games against Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Chelsea, and trips to Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton before May.
Regis Le Bris is looking to become only the second Sunderland manager to lead the club into Europe, and the first since Bob Stokoe in 1973.
Beyond 2026, contracts run to 2027 for Reinildo Mandava, Luke O’Nien and Abdoullah Ba, to 2028 for Granit Xhaka, Wilson Isidor, Romaine Mundle, Milan Aleksic, Ahmed Abdullahi and Timothee Pembele, to 2029 for Nordi Mukiele, Omar Alderete, Brian Brobbey and Enzo Le Fee, and to 2030 for Trai Hume, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi, Habib Diarra, Chris Rigg, Eliezer Mayenda, Dan Ballard, Melkor Ellborg, Jocelin Ta Bi and Nilson Angulo.
Earlier this month there was a boost when Dan Ballard signed a new long-term deal.
