Sunderland Women have appointed Rehanne Skinner as technical director, a significant early move by new majority owners Bay Collective. Bay Collective assumed a majority shareholding earlier this month.
The club said in a statement that the hire reflects an ambition to build sustainable foundations for long-term success on and off the pitch.
A former WSL head coach at Spurs and West Ham United, Skinner will lead all sporting and football operations. Her remit includes overseeing recruitment, aligning the first-team and academy pathway, and delivering the club’s football vision.
She expressed strong belief in the owners’ project, describing Sunderland AFC Women as a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and enormous potential. She aims to help build the structures and environment to get the club back where it belongs and to create sustained success. Skinner also highlighted the North East’s outstanding talent pool and a personal family connection to the region through her mother.
Bay Collective chief executive Kay Cossington called the hire a major step aligned with sustainable growth, pointing to Skinner’s over 25 years at elite level across club and international football and describing her readiness to lead as hugely exciting.
