Liverpool's next deal appears ready to open the door to one who previously got away.

It increasingly looks as though Alisson Becker will leave Liverpool this summer. The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus over the last few months.

Alisson's contract will expire in 2027, with the Reds having triggered an option to extend it beyond this summer. But it appears they did that simply to get a transfer fee for the goalkeeper.

Juventus are ready to sign him and Gazzetta Dello Sport claims they're getting closer to doing so. It's a deal that creates an interesting situation for Liverpool, too.

Michele Di Gregorio is the current no.1 for Juve and would be replaced with Alisson here. It means he is free to leave the club, having only signed for them back in 2024.

And interestingly, Di Gregorio rejected a move to Liverpool in order to head to the Old Lady. That's been confirmed by his agent (Football Italia).

So Liverpool would now have a chance to sign the Italian they wanted a couple of years prior. They'd ultimately grab Giorgi Mamardashvili instead but it seems they've got a chance to have both.

Michele Di Gregorio: Situation Summary

Juventus Performance and Stats

As of 15 May 2026, Michele Di Gregorio has firmly established himself as Juventus' undisputed number one following his move from Monza. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed an exceptional 2025/26 campaign, recording 18 clean sheets in 36 Serie A appearances. His shot-stopping and distribution have been pivotal in Juventus' resurgent title challenge, maintaining an average FotMob rating of 7.24. Di Gregorio’s form has seen him surpass the legacy of Wojciech Szczęsny, earning praise for his consistency and leadership from the back.

International Standing

His domestic dominance has translated to the international stage, where he is now the primary challenger to Gianluigi Donnarumma for Italy. Di Gregorio has been confirmed in Luciano Spalletti’s squad for the 2026 World Cup this June. While he remains the second choice, he is widely regarded as the most in-form Italian goalkeeper heading into the tournament.
