Manchester United’s loaned-out forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly open to a surprise return to Old Trafford this summer.

The England international is currently on loan at Barcelona for the season, but it remains to be seen his move there will be made permanent.

As we recently reported, Barca are currently unsure about signing Rashford permanently, despite having the option to do so.

If Rashford does end up missing out on staying at the Nou Camp, it seems he’d be open to returning to Man Utd, according to BBC Sport.

Could Marcus Rashford still have a role to play at Manchester United?

It has seemed unlikely for some time now that Rashford could have any kind of future at United, but perhaps there’s still a way back for him.

The 28-year-old was once a key player for the Red Devils, but he suffered a significant loss of form before going out on loan to Aston Villa last season, and then to Barcelona this term.

Rashford is also one of United’s highest earners, so it makes little sense for them to bring him back unless he’s ready to become a regular starter and consistent performer again.

On his day, Rashford is a fantastic player, but he’s not getting any younger and it perhaps seems like his best years are behind him.

The move to Barcelona has also seemed good for him, as he’s benefited from a bit of a change of scene after spending so long in Manchester.

Sky Sports have recently reported that Rashford would likely be one of the players available this summer, so even if he does come back to MUFC it probably wouldn’t be for very long, with other suitors surely likely to emerge.
