FC Bayern are continuing to work intensively on their squad planning for the coming season. In the search for reinforcements for the defence, a surprising name has now emerged: Marc Cucurella. According to media reports, the Munich club have already checked the availability of the Spanish international
FC Bayern’s plans for the summer transfer window are in full swing, and while negotiations for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown continue, those responsible are apparently also looking at alternative solutions for the left side of defence
As the British portal TEAMtalk reports, the German record champions have already expressed an interest in Marc Cucurella, according to which the Munich club have asked Chelsea under what conditions a transfer of the Spaniard would be possible
The 27-year-old has been one of the established left-backs in top European soccer for years and has recently played an important role at Chelsea and in the Spanish national team. Now a new challenge could arise in the summer
The speculation has apparently been triggered by the sporting situation at the Blues. According to the report, Cucurella is open to a move after Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Spanish international would therefore like to continue playing regularly at the highest European level
However, a potential transfer is likely to be anything but easy. Chelsea are said to be willing to talk in principle, but are demanding a transfer fee of at least €50 million for the 2024 European champion
Furthermore, FC Bayern are by no means alone in the race. According to reports, Atlético Madrid are currently considered a promising candidate. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation
A signing would be particularly interesting for Munich if there were to be personnel changes on the left side of defence. In recent months, Alphonso Davies in particular has been repeatedly linked with a move abroad
Currently, however, there are many indications that Nathaniel Brown remains Bayern’s preferred solution. According to media reports, Munich have already reached an agreement with the Frankfurt player on a transfer. Talks are currently underway between the two clubs regarding the transfer fee

Should Cucurella actually wear the Bayern jersey one day, it would be quite remarkable for many German soccer fans. The Spaniard is still closely associated with one of the most controversial scenes of the 2024 European Championship
In the quarter-final between Germany and Spain, Cucurella fended off a shot from Jamal Musiala in the penalty area with his arm. Many experts and fans are convinced that a penalty should have been awarded to the DFB team. However, the whistle was not blown
A short time later, Mikel Merino scored the decisive goal to give Spain victory and seal the German team’s elimination. Since then, Cucurella has regularly been met with whistles during appearances in Germany
Regardless of this past, the Spaniard is undoubtedly an interesting player in sporting terms for many top European clubs. However, it remains to be seen whether FC Bayern’s interest will actually turn into concrete negotiations. Munich’s focus currently remains on Brown, but Cucurella could become an alternative if plans on the transfer market change or if there is additional movement in the record champions‘ defence.
