There are signs of a surprising turnaround in the transfer poker surrounding Said El Mala – and FC Bayern could suddenly play a role again
FC Bayern’s plans for the summer transfer window are in full swing, and the Munich club are keeping a close eye on the market in their search for reinforcements in attack – and now a well-known talent is once again coming into focus: Said El Mala
As reported by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, Brighton & Hove Albion have withdrawn their bid for the 19-year-old. Previously, the Premier League club were considered the top favourites to sign the shooting star from 1. FC Köln. According to the report, Brighton ultimately failed to meet Cologne’s financial demands
An offer of around 35 million euros is said not to have been enough for the Effzeh. Internally, a transfer fee of up to 50 million euros is apparently being sought – a price that would make El Mala the most expensive sale in the club’s history
The withdrawal of Brighton could now change the starting position, with Chelsea FC and Newcastle United as well as FC Bayern reportedly still interested and „waiting in the wings“
Munich are looking for additional quality in attack – especially on the left wing. El Mala is considered one of the most exciting talents in this position and could play an important role in the long term
However, there are also reservations internally: the transfer fee demanded is considered very high at Säbener Straße, which is why Bayern are also looking for alternatives

One prominent name continues to be Anthony Gordon. The England international from Newcastle United is regarded as the ideal solution for the attack, but also comes with a high price tag. Around 80 million euros are being demanded for Gordon – a sum that Bayern will have to weigh up carefully
In comparison, El Mala would be the cheaper option despite the high asking price. He also has development potential and could gradually work his way up behind established players such as Luis Diaz
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Cologne talent, but one thing is clear: after Brighton’s exit, the transfer poker is completely open again – and FC Bayern could benefit from it.
