FC Bayern München defender Jonathan Tah spoke to the media ahead of the crucial UEFA Champions League opener against Chelsea FC at the Allianz Arena this evening (21:00 CET).
“This will clearly be our first tough test,” the 29-year-old from Hamburg said. “Chelsea are a top team, they have a clear gameplan - they have a good mix of experienced top players and young, brave players with massive potential.”
“We will definitely be challenged at the highest level possible, but we are also used to playing matches like this - ultimately, we are prepared for matches like these. We are all really looking forward to it,” he added.
Regarding his time in München, after arriving from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Tah said: “I feel very, very settled - I have had a great start and feel very comfortable. Life is definitely good at the club, but also in München generally.”
Lastly, he was asked about being paired with French international Dayot Upamecano as the two centre-backs for the squad. Tah said regarding this: “I feel like our coordination is getting better and better, given that we have not played too many matches together - but there are always things that we can both improve, as a team and personally. We will continue to work on that and hopefully get even better over the year.”
