Hakan Calhanoglu has firmly re-established himself at the heart of Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan, putting a turbulent summer and a difficult previous season behind him.

As reported by the Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the Turkish midfielder has responded to doubts about his commitment and fitness with consistent performances that underline his importance to the team.

“Beyond the physical aspect, there were also questions about his connection with Inter after rumours of a possible exit and tension with Lautaro,” the paper noted.

“His recent form has been the clearest sign of reconciliation.”

Calhanoglu was linked heavily away from the Nerazzurri in the summer, with Galatasaray touted as a possible destination.

Speaking after Turkey’s win over Georgia, Calhanoglu himself dismissed any talk of an uncertain future:

“Nothing happened this summer. I’ve always been an Inter player and I’m happy to continue. Nothing has ever changed – I’ll always give my maximum for this club.”

For Chivu, however, there is no debate.

Calhanoglu remains central to his project, both as a leader in midfield and as the team’s tactical metronome.

Inter and Calhanoglu now prepare for a key test in Serie A on Saturday against Roma.
