Liverpool centre-back problems stacking up

And while hopes were growing in recent weeks that an accord could be struck - it now appears there is a new threat to Liverpool’s renewal for Konate.

'Intermediaries' in Konate - Madrid talks

TEAMtalk is reporting that talks are now once again on with Real Madrid in an attempt to convince the Spanish capital club to reignite their interest.

Madrid were firmly established in the hunt for Konate previously but made it known a few weeks ago that they had dropped out of the running.

“Intermediaries have still been working in the background to try to draw Madrid back into the picture,” the report reads.
