Tanner Tessmann left out of United States World Cup squad | OneFootball

According to Le Progres, Lyon midfielder Tanner Tessmann has not been named in Mauricio Pocchettino’s United States squad for the World Cup.

He endured a difficult second half of the season and picked up an injury late on.

It had been a key target for his second year at OL, but barring a late recall it will not be met. The American midfielder has 14 caps.

He featured in all the national team’s warm-up matches from October 2025 to April 2026. Pocchettino judged that recent form and injury meant he could not contribute enough.

The United States will face Australia, Paraguay and Türkiye in the first round. Another Lyon connection, goalkeeper Matt Turner, is included, on loan at New England after a transfer from Nottingham Forest last summer that was forced by John Textor.
