Tarik Muharemovic has delivered his first words as a Leeds United player, outlining his mentality and making a vow after sealing a move to Elland Road.
Two and a half weeks after selling Pascal Struijk to Brighton for £20m, Leeds paid £34m for the Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back. The fee makes him the club’s second most expensive signing, behind the £34.5m spent on Georginio Rutter. The player said in a post that he is ready for the fight ahead.
Muharemovic joins from Serie A side Sassuolo on a five-year deal. Fresh from helping them to a very respectable 11th-placed finish, he then starred for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup.
“My name is Tarik Muharemovic. I join the club that is built on commitment. Hard work in the fire of defence. That is what has brought me here. That is the mentality I share. Win your battles. Stay calm under pressure. And always keep fighting. I’m ready. Marching on Together.”
The defender set out a message built on commitment, winning battles, calmness under pressure and a refusal to stop fighting.
