Tariq Lamptey has left Fiorentina after his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

The 25-year-old joined from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer but made only two substitute appearances in September, against Napoli and Como. He sustained a left ACL injury on 21 September against Como and did not feature again, finishing with 25 minutes for Fiorentina. The club said in September the problem was a complex medical situation.

Lamptey has struggled with injuries since breaking through in the Premier League. He moved from Chelsea to Brighton in January 2020.

In June he agreed a one-year extension at Brighton, yet slipped down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium under head coach Fabian Hurzeler before moving to Fiorentina.

He has 11 Ghana caps, his most recent in October 2024. Ghana are in Group D at this summer’s World Cup, facing Panama on 18 June, England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.
