Taylor Hinds opens up about Jamaica to England switch | OneFootball

Taylor Hinds reveals that the Jamaica national team were very supportive of her decision to play for England instead.

The Arsenal defender made her debut for Jamaica in a friendly against France in 2024, but did not play a competitive tie for the Caribbean side.

Since then Hinds has gone on to play for England three times since her debut against Australia in October 2025 and she opened up about the switch ahead of England’s World Cup qualifiers against Iceland and Spain.

“I’m so proud to have a dual heritage,” she said. “Not everyone can say that. 

“For me, going to that Jamaica camp was a tester. I have to say massive thanks to Jamaica, they’ve been so supportive throughout my decision. 

“But I’m here now and my focus is on England. I think the main thing for me is just making my family proud and they’re super proud of me.”

Hinds also made a recent switch at club level, swapping Liverpool for Arsenal in 2025. She explains how the move has made her a better player.

“I think I’ve been working really hard,” she said. “I think that’s due to the fact that I’ve also made that step up and moved to Arsenal.”

“Playing with the best players in the world and against the best players in the world it just gives you that oomph and it inspires you to want to be better and want to play better. 

“I think I’ve really taken on another level of my football, which I’m really happy about.

“I think the potential that I’ve got the potential to step up to the next level,” she added. “I’ve really changed and improved as a player since the start of the season and I think that’s just for me working on certain things, on certain areas that I need to improve to be at this level if I want to be here and stay here.”
