France have received a FIFA exception allowing Aurélien Tchouaméni and Guy Stéphan to address the media at 20:15 from their training base, rather than at the Gillette Stadium, on the eve of Friday’s World Cup meeting with Norway, scheduled for 21:00 French time.

According to L'Équipe, Tchouaméni, the vice-captain, is the designated player for the pre-match press conference at 14:15, and he will be followed by Stéphan, Didier Deschamps’s assistant.

Tchouaméni follows N’Golo Kanté, who spoke in New York before France’s 3-1 win over Senegal, and Kylian Mbappé in Philadelphia. Stéphan had returned to France for a few days after the death of his mother.

FIFA had already permitted some teams to hold the player’s media duties at their training ground instead of the stadium on match eve, while Deschamps had been due to speak at the Gillette Stadium. In this context, Stéphan has also been excused the trip to Foxborough, roughly an hour from the French base at the Four Seasons in Boston.

Both briefings will take place in the press room at Bentley University’s sports complex in Waltham. Training is set for 15:30, with the first 15 minutes open to the media. France beat Iraq 3-0 earlier in the week.
