Teenager held in Leeds over Huddersfield football pitch shooting

Armed officers arrested a teenager in Leeds city centre as part of an inquiry into a shooting on a football pitch in Huddersfield.
West Yorkshire Police said the 19-year-old man from Huddersfield was detained on The Headrow yesterday, 14 April, and remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Officers stayed at the scene into the evening.
The arrest forms part of the investigation into a firearms discharge off Spaines Road in Birkby on Wednesday, 8 April. The incident happened near the pavilion on the Woodlanders FC football pitches between 8.30pm and 9pm.
A 17-year-old suffered a non life threatening leg injury. The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is pursuing multiple lines of enquiry.
