Enzo Fernandez was suspended by Chelsea for two games after his comments in the international break. He sat out a game he likely would have missed anyway when we faced Port Vale at the weekend, and will also be out of the squad for Sunday’s match against Man City.

“I’m impressed with that, it’s strong,” the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.

“There will be some who think it’s maybe still not strong enough and that Fernandez shouldn’t play again until he apologises but I doubt very much that is going to happen.”

Opinions split on Enzo punishment

That’s quite a different take to what lots of other people have said. A lot have said it was unfair to sanction Enzo at all, some that Marc Cucurella got off lightly. Others have said that Rosenior should have taken more responsibility.

If Man City beat us heavily on Sunday there will certainly be a lot of people pointing to the absence of the first team regular as a potential reason why.
