Florentino Perez’s explosive press conference days after Real Madrid’s defeat in El Clasico had made headlines in FC Barcelona, but it never attracted any real attention from the club’s top brass.
The Barcelona hierarchy has never shown too much concern about Perez’s comments, often shoving them away as a tirade from a rival club’s president, whose team has not won a single major trophy in two years.
In a recent interaction, Barcelona’s interim president, Rafa Yuste, maintained a similar level of tone, even jokingly comparing Real Madrid’s grievances to a bad case of indigestion.

Speaking from Oslo, where he attended a UEFA dinner ahead of the Women’s Champions League final, Yuste did not hold back in his assessment of the Real Madrid president’s behaviour.
“Florentino’s words were pathetic. I stand by what Laporta said and would add that teams, big or small, have to know how to win and lose.
“What Real Madrid is showing is that they’ve had a terrible case of indigestion for the last two years. We always respect our opponents,” he said (h/t SPORT).
Yuste went on to add that Barcelona wouldn’t have been so dominant as they are, even if they had truly bribed the referees.
“To win La Liga, you have to win practically all 38 games of the season, and you don’t do that by bribing referees or matches, or with the Negreira case,” he added.
The interim president accused Perez of using the Negreira case as a smokescreen to deflect attention from Real Madrid’s second consecutive trophyless season.

Yuste was also asked about Pep Guardiola’s exit from Manchester City. He notably heaped praise on the Catalan for his contributions to football.
“Pep is a Barça legend. Everything he has achieved is incredible. All I can do is thank him for what he has done for football,” he said.
“He’s young, and I’m sure he’ll return to the sidelines, and we’ll enjoy watching him. He’s 100% a Barça fan and knows that Barça is his home. We have to thank him for what he has done for world football, Barça, and Catalonia,” he concluded.
