Edin Terzic opened his Athletic tenure with a Basque greeting that surprised many. According to El Correo, his first words as head coach came in Basque.

"Kaixo! Eskerrik asko, Jon (Uriarte). Eskerrik asko, Mikel (González). Eskerrik asko, athleticzales."

He also signed off with "Aupa Athletic!"

The brief message used simple Basque phrases, naming Jon Uriarte and Mikel González and addressing supporters directly.

These remarks formed part of his introductory appearance as Athletic coach.
