Terzic to bring trusted staff as Athletic reshape backroom team | OneFootball

Athletic have begun restructuring the men's first-team coaching staff after Valverde's exit, announcing the departures of Jon Aspiazu, Luis Prieto and Alberto Iglesias ahead of Terzic's presentation. The club said in a statement that the process was under way.

Aspiazu had served as Valverde's assistant across 10 seasons at San Mamés, Prieto was this season's fitness coach and Iglesias worked as a technical assistant and analyst. Athletic thanked the trio for their commitment and wished them well for the future. Orbaiz and goalkeeping coach Aitor Iru remain in post.

Terzic is set to arrive in Lezama with trusted lieutenants, as is customary. One is Sebastian Geppert, with whom he has worked for more than 15 years.

In Dortmund his other assistants were Sven Bender and Nuri Sahin, responsible respectively for defensive and attacking work. Both are regarded as club legends.

Terzic also worked with fitness coach Florian Wangler. Hamburg-born, it would be normal for his group to include specialists already working at Lezama.
