Tottenham’s summer signing Xavi Simons says his decision to join the club has been validated by what he has experienced so far.
Simons made his Spurs debut in the 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday, before helping his side to a 1-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League.
The Dutchman joined Tottenham from RB Leipzig, and says the positive early impression he got from head coach Thomas Frank and his squad has been proven correct.
“If I’m honest with you, that’s why I signed here, especially the club, especially the coach, had a really big impact on the group,” he said.
“And obviously it’s my second week here and I can feel really that the group is really tight and together and that’s a really positive thing.
“He (Frank) was a big influence of course. For me, it’s really important about that. It’s him, the club, the players and my feeling of course has to be good and that’s what my feeling was.
“I’m just really happy to be here.”
Spurs qualified for this season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League and Simons says the mentality among the squad is to win more silverware.
He said: “Obviously that’s the mentality I think from the squad and from the club, to keep winning and I think there’s progression, so we’re going game by game and trying to make the fans proud.”
