Thauvin and Edouard star as Lens go top | OneFootball

Lens thrashed Angers 5-1 on Friday at Stade Bollaert-Delelis to rise from second to first in Ligue 1.

In the 13th minute, Florian Thauvin swept in Saud Abdulhamid's header to set the tone. Odsonne Edouard then finished Thauvin's pass to double the lead (25.), before Mamadou Sangare arrowed one from range into the top corner (39.).

After the restart, Edouard struck again from Thauvin's through ball (48.). Lanroy Machine briefly replied with a fine finish from Lilian Raolisoa's cross (62.), but Matthieu Udol restored the cushion with a close-range left-footer (72.).

Substitute Abdallah Sima changed the angle of attack down the right and delivered the cross for Udol's goal (72.). Adrien Thomasson also set up Sangare's strike and leads the Ligue 1 assists chart with eight this season.

Robin Risser made smart saves either side of Thauvin's opener to deny Amine Sbaï and Yassin Belkhdim as Angers threatened early on.

Lens dominated territory and tempo, registering 26 attempts and 57.3% possession.
