The 2026 January, plus a sliver of February, window brought plenty of movement, so here every Premier League deal is ranked by value, impact and need.
According to NY Times, youth-team additions were excluded, and Jeremy Jacquet’s move from Rennes to Liverpool will be a summer transfer. The list weighs cost-effectiveness and how urgently a role is filled, not raw talent.
The floor is set by Fraser Forster’s free switch to Bournemouth, a short-term cover unlikely to play. Similar low-impact loans include Keiber Lamadrid to West Ham and Christos Mandas to Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace moved from rehabilitating Evann Guessand to a bold outlay on Jorgen Strand Larsen, up to £48m despite no non-penalty league goals this season. Brennan Johnson’s £35m switch also looks risky if confidence does not return.
West Ham sought steel and spark with Axel Disasi on loan, plus forwards Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe to enliven their attack. Bournemouth bet on upside with Rayan, who assisted on debut, and midfielder Alex Toth.
Conor Gallagher looks a strong fit as Tottenham’s holding midfielder. Fulham’s £27m move for Oscar Bobb could be outstanding value once he fully recovers, and Wolves’ loan for Angel Gomes makes pragmatic sense.
The podium reads Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City, expensive yet already productive, Douglas Luiz’s loan return to Aston Villa to cover injuries, and top spot Marc Guehi to City for £20m. Homegrown, 25 and on a five and a half-year deal, he looks excellent value with scope to grow.
