It was an embarrassing season for the Hammers last time out, but with Daniel Křetínský set to take an increased shareholding, which will mean he is effectively calling the shots, combined with Nuno’s decision to stay, it means fans are happy with the direction the club is heading.

That has been reflected in the season ticket sales, with over 50,000 sold for the Championship season, and there was more good news for West Ham this week as Jarrod Bowen committed his future to the club.

Such loyalty will cement Bowen’s status as one of West Ham’s most popular players, and there was a link to another former favourite earlier this month, when it was revealed that Lenny Noble had signed a scholarship with the club.

Lenny is the son of former midfielder Mark Noble, who made 550 appearances in claret and blue during a very successful career.

The 39-year-old has since moved into a sporting director role with the Irons, but there could be another Noble in a West Ham shirt out on the pitch in the future.

As mentioned, Lenny, who is 16, was given a scholarship to stay at the club, with the teenager a midfielder, like his Dad.

Given his connection to the club, news of Noble staying on with the Hammers was always going to attract attention, and when the youngster put up an Instagram post to reflect on his achievement, it prompted plenty of responses.

Among those to wish Noble well was England international Declan Rice, who simply stated ‘proud of you son’ to the update.

The Premier League winner obviously came through the ranks at West Ham, and he was crucial as they won the Conference League under David Moyes.

Rice has regularly highlighted the role Noble played in his development, with the ex-skipper having been seen as a major positive influence on the midfielder.

Lenny Noble would love to follow in his Dad’s footsteps at West Ham

This is a nice message from Rice, as whilst some fans weren’t happy with him after he left, he has always reiterated his love for the club.

Clearly, he had a close relationship with Mark Noble, and he would have been following Lenny’s progress in the academy from when he was a kid.

So, it’s great for him to show support to the youngster, and he’s not a bad player for Lenny to lean on for advice - along with his Dad!

Given his name, there was always going to be a spotlight on Lenny when this news was shared, and given how much the Noble family love the Hammers, it would be fantastic if he could make it to the first-team.

But, that’s a long way away, and it’s now down to Lenny to continue to progress in the U18s, and West Ham fans will hope there is a lot of talent in the group, as they are rightly proud of the players they have produced over the years.
