There are plenty of young talents waiting for their chance to impress at the World Cup this summer.

We look at five players who are set for breakthroughs on the biggest stage.

Gilberto Mora

The youngest player at the World Cup at the age of 17 years and 240 days on opening day, the Mexico playmaker is a massive talent who is already being courted by all of Europe's biggest sides.

He has already broken his country's record by becoming the youngest player ever to be capped and also has seven appearances to his name already, in addition to starting the Gold Cup final too.

That, and the fact that he already has over 50 outings to his name at club level, show just how highly regarded he is.

This is Mora's opportunity to announce himself to the world.

Ibrahim Mbaye

The 18-year-old Senegal star is the fourth youngest player being taken to this summer's World Cup.

Earlier this year, he became his country's youngest ever goalscorer in helping fire them to the final of a controversial Africa Cup of Nations.

Understandably given the ridiculous level of competition in his position at club level with PSG, opportunities there have been harder to come by but it is proof of his ability that he has still been granted chances.

And has taken them too - look no further than netting the clinching goal to win PSG the league title last season.

Kendry Páez

Although he is only 19, the attacking midfielder has already nailed down a regular starting spot for Ecuador.

He has had such a big reputation for such a long time that Chelsea swooped to sign him at the age of 17 from his homeland.

After impressing on loan with Strasbourg and River Plate, the playmaker will have an eye on making his mark under Xabi Alonso's new regime at Stamford Bridge.

A standout showing on the world stage would go a long way towards that.

Lucas Herrington

Closer to home, Herrington (who just misses out on the top 10 of the youngest World Cup players this summer) could be one to watch out for.

He only received his first caps this year but his extended use in friendly fixtures leading up to the tournament suggest that he is very much a man in Tony Popovic's thoughts.

The Colorado Rapids man has enjoyed a meteoric rise so far and was in Brisbane Roar's academy just two short years ago to now garnering MLS starts as a teenager and has featured in every single minute of the season so far.

He's consistent and composed for a player so young. If he breaks into the side, it may be many, many years before he's ousted.

Findlay Curtis

Scotland are a nation who have a strong historical tradition for producing exciting wingers who get fans out of their seats but those have been in limited supply for several decades.

However, in 19-year-old Curtis they appear to have a player in the mould of those fearless faces from the past who are quick, exciting dribblers always willing to cause full-backs problems.

Impressing on loan at Kilmarnock from Rangers last season, he offers an outlet that only Ben Gannon-Doak can for Steve Clarke and already opened his international account with his first goal in May's friendly win over Curaçao.

Curtis could be his country's secret weapon in the USA.
