The R's have started brightly under the highly-rated French coach Julien Stephan, after a productive transfer window saw 11 players arrive at Loftus Road.

Star signing Richard Kone has been a revelation in front of goal under Stephan, with the Ivorian striker being the nuisance in and around the box that the R's have lacked in recent years.

However, decisions will have to be made in the coming months as to who gets offered extensions and who will be allowed to leave the club following the culmination of the 2025/26 season.

Football League World takes a look at those set to leave Loftus Road as free agents in 2026, as per Transfermarkt.

Paul Nardi

Goalkeeper Paul Nardi joined the club as a free agent from Belgian side Genk in the summer of 2024, and quickly became the number one at Loftus Road.

He appeared 45 times in the Championship last term - keeping a clean sheet on nine occasions.

This season has not been as simple, with young Joe Walsh starting the campaign as Stephan's first choice, before Nardi would regain his place. And with QPR now looking to fight among the division's top sides, question marks remain surrounding Nardi's future, and whether he is at the standard required for a promotion-hunting Championship side.

As of now, the 31-year-old is set to leave the club at the end of the season, and any decision regarding his future will rest on the further development of 23-year-old Walsh, who got the nod over Nardi in the season's early days.

Jake Clarke-Salter

Jake Clarke-Salter has continued to struggle with injury woes throughout his time at Loftus Road, and these issues do not seem to be left in the past quite yet.

The 28-year-old signed permanently from Chelsea in 2022, making 16 appearances in his debut season, followed by 33. However, the centre-back made just 11 appearances last term, and hasn't appeared under Stephan as he continues to fight against his own fitness.

Contracted at Loftus Road until June 2026, all the signs point in the direction of Clarke-Salter's QPR career coming to an end, with the defender remaining unable to gain any consistency when it comes to minutes on the pitch.

Steve Cook

34-year-old Steve Cook signed for the R's in 2023, with the veteran now in the final year of his contract.

The ex-Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest man has brought stability and experience to the club since his arrival; however, his age means that he is entering the twilight years of his career.

The centre-back has been in and out of the team throughout the season's early days - though his experience is still ever-reliable and valuable.

An extension clause in his contract was triggered in May this year, keeping him at the club for another year. A similar decision regarding his future will depend on the trajectory of QPR as a club, which, at the moment, is upwards.

Ziyad Larkeche

Left-back Ziyad Larkeche spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Dundee FC before joining up with QPR once again for the ongoing 2025/26 term.

Though any hopes of making a swift start to life under Stephan soon went up in flames as the young full-back sustained an ACL injury in training, sidelining him until, at the very least, the new year.

Should he make a speedy enough recovery to get some minutes under Stephan, a decision regarding his future could become simpler to make. However, a lengthy absence in a contract-renewal period leaves Larkeche's future up in the air.

Isaac Hayden

Midfielder Isaac Hayden joined QPR on a free transfer over the summer, after spending four months at the club in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

After his arrival in late August, Hayden has featured regularly as he gets up to full match fitness. While he may not be the first name on the teamsheet, his experience could prove highly valuable as the R's look to progress further up the table after a 15th-place finish last season.

Putting pen to paper on a one-year deal in August, his future will rest on his impact, which is likely to be big given his history with the club.

Paul Smyth

Northern Irishman Paul Smyth was a staple in QPR's forward line under former boss Marti Cifuentes, making 87 league appearances for the Hoops over the course of two seasons.

After signing on a free transfer from Leyton Orient in the summer of 2023, despite Smyth's performance levels being consistent, his goalscoring form that was seen at the O's has been somewhat lacking in Blue and White.

Smyth has proved himself as a reliable option for Stephan during the season's early days, though his future may come under serious consideration due to the club's promotion-chasing ambitions.
