Leeds secured their third straight win on Wednesday night to move top of the table again thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 win against Luton Town, which helped to open a slight gap to third place by two points. Meanwhile, their hosts collected an impressive victory of their own to climb to eighth spot with a midweek win of their own.

The Whites will be aiming for their fourth successive win this Saturday when they travel to Blackburn in the afternoon, knowing that at least one of their rivals is dropping points this weekend. That is due to the fact Sheffield United host Sunderland at Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Blackburn themselves head into the weekend aiming to crash the Championship play-off places with a third straight victory, having bounced back to form since the November international break. They face one of their toughest tests yet, though, as the visitors arrive aiming to build a lead at the summit of the table and extend their own winning streak.

Blackburn's eye-catching victory against Middlesbrough with defender Dom Hyam scoring their winner will have them in a confident mood after seeing off another promotion contender. Much like Boro, the West Yorkshire outfit are on an impressive run, having lost just once since mid-September.

Farke and his players won't have any rest advantage over Rovers, as they both played on Wednesday evening, but their attentions now must turn to Saturday, when they face each other at the oddly scheduled time of 1.30pm. Here, we round up all the team news and injury issues regarding both sides.

Andreas Weimann

Eustace is going to have to contend without his top scorer, Andi Weimann, who picked up a knee injury recently, as Eustace revealed following victory against Middlesbrough, via the Lancashire Telegraph.

He said: " Andi will be missing for a couple of weeks, unfortunately. He’s been playing through a knee injury which people didn’t know about. He’s had that for four games and yesterday it swelled up a bit in training. We have decided there is no point risking it. We want to get him right so he’s going to have a few weeks off.”

Scott Wharton

Weimann is not the only player out for Blackburn, with Scott Wharton still continuing his recovery from an ACL issue sustained against Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Hayden Carter

Hayden Carter is pencilled in for a return in the New Year after undergoing knee surgery at the end of last month, which should see Danny Batth continue alongside Dom Hyam.

Arnor Sigurdsson

Arnor Sigurdsson was expected to return from a thigh injury after the international break but has since suffered a separate calf issue as well, with Ryan Hedges, Todd Cantwell, and Tyrhys Dolan starting in the line of three behind the striker in his absence.

Balazs Toth

Eustace also revealed that Balazs Toth is out after the goalkeeper picked up an ankle injury while on international duty with Hungary, meaning he will be out for a few weeks. While Yuki Ohashi has had a slight knock recently but should be fit for Blackburn's clash at Ewood Park.

Ethan Ampadu

Leeds will remain without midfielder and club-captain Ethan Ampadu on Saturday, although they will be boosted by the return of defender Junior Firpo from a three-match suspension after serving a ban following a clash with Millwall defender Danny McNamara.

Ilia Gruev

Injured duo Ampadu and Ilia Gruev are continuing their rehabilitation at Elland Road. The former is expected to be out until close to the New Year after suffering knee ligament damage in a game against Coventry City in September. Farke is cautiously optimistic of a slightly earlier return, though.

Whereas Gruev required surgery on a knee injury picked up just days after Ampadu's. He is expected to be out for months and should miss most of the campaign.

Joe Gelhardt

The other issue Leeds have had of late has been to Joe Gelhardt's hip, although no time frame has been placed on his return to action. He has been linked away from the club this week, with a report from MOT Leeds News stating that the Whites were looking to secure a loan deal for their attacker in January.

The Yorkshire Evening Post goes on to name a number of interested clubs, including the likes of Preston North End, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth.

Sam Byram

Leeds recently welcomed Largie Ramazani back into action after a cameo on Wednesday against Luton, but there was an early withdrawal for Sam Byram with a slight hamstring issue. Farke revealed on Thursday during his pre-match press conference that he will make a late decision on the full-back, who had opened the scoring against the Hatters.
