The title race tightens with Arsenal visiting Manchester City next Sunday, while Spurs wobble and Rio Ngumoha rises for Liverpool.
According to NY Times, City beat Chelsea 3-0 and Liverpool won 2-0 at Fulham.
City looked ominous, raising their level after the break as Rayan Cherki supplied two assists. Arsenal were flat in defeat to Bournemouth, and Mikel Arteta felt they did many strange things. Anxiety at the Emirates grew, with boos at full time despite a nine-point lead.
An Etihad trip could ease that tension. Arsenal do not have to win, City do, and a draw would leave them six points clear with City holding a game in hand.
Three points split four relegation sides, Tottenham sit 18th with Leeds yet to play and six rounds left.
A 1-0 defeat at Sunderland felt familiar despite talk of a lift under Roberto De Zerbi. Nordi Mukiele’s deflected winner was fortunate, but Spurs were wasteful and brittle. Rivals offer more, from Leeds’ home ties with Wolves and Burnley to Forest chiselling points with Chris Wood back.
Ngumoha, 17, was Liverpool’s brightest threat, only his second Premier League start and his first complete display. He cut in from the left to create and finish a fine goal, and threatened similar moves twice more.
Mohamed Salah then scored a mirror of it. Whether Ngumoha should start against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday is a live debate, and Virgil van Dijk said he would take it in his stride.
