On a December day in 1979, Sunderland marked a slice of Black Cats history by signing classy Argentinian midfielder Claudio Marangoni from San Lorenzo. His stay at Roker Park was brief before a return to South America.

According to Sunderland Echo, a new gallery and Google Maps views revisit the moments when Marangoni first pulled on Sunderland colours. The outlet is also asking supporters to share their links to Argentina.

Claudio Oscar Marangoni was born in Rosario, Argentina, in 1954, the same city as Lionel Messi. His senior career began in 1974 with Chacarita Juniors.

He moved to San Lorenzo in Buenos Aires in 1976. In December 1979 he wore the Sunderland shirt for the first time at Roker Park.
