Chelsea want Enzo Maresca to be in charge until the next decade according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Maresca was appointed on a five year deal last summer after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title and has overseen a successful first season at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian secured Champions League qualification and guided Chelsea to Conference League success with a 4-1 win against Real Betis on Wednesday evening, the first silverware under the new ownership.

Chelsea want Maresca in charge until the next decade

Maresca deserves credit for what he’s achieved this season, and the Italian has come under a lot of criticism at times during the campaign.

After securing Champions League qualification Maresca hit back at those critics, but attention now turns to the Club World Cup and next season.

Chelsea expect Maresca to go on a deep run in the competition next month, and the Blues are likely to have Liam Delap available after agreeing a deal to sign the Ipswich striker.

Despite a successful end to the season there are still Chelsea fans who don’t like Maresca and want to see him replaced, but Balague has revealed the Blues want the 45-year-old in charge until the next decade.

He took to X.com and said:

“This is why you have to be careful with prejudging, some Leicester City fans thought Chelsea was too big for Enzo Maresca and he would be sacked by Xmas.

“There were criticisms of his lack of Premier League experience, some Chelsea fans disagreed with his style and wanted him out.

“Some pundits kept thinking he was saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing, the job was too big for him.

“The club meanwhile want him to be in charge till next decade, congratulations @ChelseaFC, but mostly, brilliant job, Enzo!!”

Chelsea not considering manager change

It was reported regardless of how the season ended Maresca would still be in charge and having secured a trophy and Champions League qualification it’s hard to imagine the Italian going anywhere.

Chelsea now face a huge summer, where their business will likely decide whether they will compete for major trophies over the next few seasons.

The Blues are potentially still looking for another striker, whilst they also want to sign a centre back and a right footed attacker to bolster Maresca’s squad.
