The Cup stayed overnight at Donostia City Hall after Monday’s historic celebration, with club president Jokin Aperribay handing it to mayor Jon Insausti at the close.

According to Diario Vasco, it is the fourth time the trophy carries the white and blue colours, the centrepiece of two days of celebrations across Gipuzkoa.

Insausti hosted the txuri-urdin squad with Aperribay, vice presidents Angel Oyarzun, Mikel Ubarretxena and Joseba Ibarburu, coach Rino Matarazzo and captain Mikel Oyarzabal. Most of the board attended, while Alex Uranga dined at Bar Antonio, and families of players such as Caleta-Car, Brais Méndez and Carlos Soler joined.

Authorities filled the building, some coming almost straight from Sevilla, including lehendakari Imanol Pradales, Ibone Bengoetxea, Eider Mendoza, Bakartxo Tejeria, Marisol Garmendia, Goizane Álvarez and Xabier Ezeizabarrena. Around 50 mayors and deputy mayors from across Gipuzkoa were present.

Balcony space was tight, so most watched from the terrace, enjoying the players’ words, the supporters’ chants, a children’s tamborrada and concerts. Inside, guests marvelled at the turnout and relived the surge of emotions since Pablo Marín converted the decisive penalty.

Former mayor Xabier Albistur attended, as did ex-mayor and current EH Bildu spokesperson Juan Karlos Izagirre, while predecessor Eneko Goia did not. Councillors Ane Oyarbide, Borja Corominas and Víctor Lasa were present, and urban planning delegate Nekane Arzallus experienced it keenly, her nephew being Álvaro Odriozola.

The party faced the crowds below, with former player Carlos Martínez among supporters. After more than two hours, the Cup returns to Anoeta today after a restful night.
