It was only ever a matter of time.
On his second start for Liverpool, and third game overall, Alexander Isak has got off the mark in red.
The Swedish striker finished smartly from close range after Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy's attempted pass to a defender was intercepted by Federico Chiesa, who squared the ball to Isak.
Perhaps it was fitting his first goal for Liverpool came in the EFL Cup given his last appearance in the competition saw him score for Newcastle against his new club in March's final.
The first of many undoubtedly as Isak starts paying off that £130m British record fee, and a warning sign for the rest of English and European football.
