Real Madrid will close out the calendar year in La Liga with several key absences after the Disciplinary Committee officially confirmed the sanctions resulting from last weekend’s heated defeat to Celta Vigo.

According to a report from SPORT, Fran Garcia, Alvaro Carreras, Endrick and Dani Carvajal have all been handed suspensions following the incidents that unfolded at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The clearest case is that of Fran Garcia. The left-back has been issued a one-match ban, meaning he will sit out Real Madrid’s fixture against Alaves on 14 December.

He will, however, be available again for the team’s final league match of the year against Sevilla.

What about the others?

The situation becomes significantly more complicated for Alvaro Carreras, Endrick and Dani Carvajal

All three players have received two-game suspensions, ruling them out of Madrid’s last two La Liga matches before Christmas – the clashes against Alaves and Sevilla.

For Carvajal, the punishment will not alter much in the immediate term, as the captain is still recovering from an injury.

The absence of Carreras and Endrick, however, places additional strain on an already depleted defensive line.

Trouble for Alonso

Xabi Alonso now faces the challenge of playing the next league matchday without either of his preferred left-backs.

Meanwhile, one piece of positive news for the club is that the suspensions will not carry over into the Copa del Rey.

This means Real Madrid’s debut in the competition, against Talavera, remains unaffected.

The disciplinary rules stipulate that bans must be served within the same competition where the offences occurred unless the Committee deems them extremely serious, which, in this case, it did not.
