Manchester City and Al Ain have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of tonight’s FIFA Club World Cup Group G fixture at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. For Manchester City, they’ll be aiming to pick up all three points against the Emirati side. A win will ensure they progress to the Round of 16 phase of the Club World Cup after their 2-nil win over Wydad AC. Al Ain were well beaten by Juventus 5- nil in their opening match of the tournament. They’ll be hoping to give a good account of themselves against Pep Guardiola’s side.
For Manchester City, they’ll enter today’s match with Rico Lewis unavailable due to suspension. Lewis was sent off late in City’s win over Wydad. He is serving a one-match ban for this morning’s match.
Pep Guardiola informed the media that Rodri and John Stones aren’t ready to start for his team. The pair will continue to be eased back into the fold via the bench. Given their lengthy injury layoffs that is a wise move by the City fitness staff.
The Manchester City manager also told the media that he will rotate his starting eleven for the match against Al Ain. There could be as many as 10 changes to their starting eleven that beat Wydad AC. Players such as Claudio Echeverri could be given an opportunity to impress based on Pep Guardiola’s comments.
