With the 2026 summer transfer window fast approaching, the rumour mill is already threatening to spiral out of control.
Read on as we look at some of the biggest transfers that could be completed this summer, starting with a player who looks vastly overpriced.
Midfielder Elliot Anderson has been a solid performer since joining Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in 2024.
However, given that he is functional rather than spectacular, Forest’s asking price of over £100 million is extremely excessive.
Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign him, but may be better served switching their attention to a player who recently won silverware.
Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton has helped the club win the FA Cup and Europa Conference League in the past two seasons.
He ran the show against Ray Vallecano in the European final, and is levels above any other central midfielder in terms of creativity.
Thomas Tuchel’s decision to leave him out of England’s World Cup squad was truly baffling. Wharton would be a superb acquisition for any top club.
Julian has been the headline act for Atletico Madrid since joining them from Manchester City in 2024, but looks set to move on this summer.
Barcelona are reportedly leading the race to sign him, but Arsenal could throw their hat into the ring if they win the Champions League on Saturday.
The Gunners still need attacking reinforcements despite signing Viktor Gyokeres, and Alvarez would be a sensational addition.
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid, and he could get his wish this summer.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly willing to pay £120 million to prise the 25-year-old Argentine international away from Stamford Bridge.
Given their need to strengthen other areas of their squad, the Blues may find it tough to resist Madrid’s overtures if they come calling.
Newcastle United are reluctant to part company with Sandro Tonali, but a big-money offer could persuade them to part company with him.
Manchester United have been touted as a potential destination for the Italian, and he would be a stellar addition to their midfield ranks.
The Red Devils may face competition from Arsenal, who were previously linked with Tonali during the winter transfer window.
One of the most explosive forwards in European football could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.
Liverpool are pushing for a quick agreement with the RB Leipzig winger, while Paris St-Germain and Manchester City are monitoring the situation.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international bagged 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances this season and looks destined to reach the top.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to step up their interest in Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers, with manager Mikel Arteta leading the bid to sign him.
Rogers finished the season with 14 goals and 12 assists for Villa, and played an integral role as they clinched the Europa League title in Istanbul.
With doubts over the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, the Gunners’ interest in Rogers is understandable.
Barcelona are working on a deal to sign Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol this summer.
While injuries limited his impact this season, the 24-year-old is undoubtedly one of the finest defenders in the world when he is fit.
Gvardiol would be the ideal partner for Pau Cubarsi, but the Premier League giants will likely pull out all the stops to keep him at the Etihad Stadium.
Bayern Munich are considering a move for Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi. They view him as a long-term replacement for Harry Kane.
However, Bournemouth reportedly want £70m for the Frenchman, which may dissuade Bayern from stepping up their interest.
Several other clubs have been linked with Kroupi, and he may become one of the most talked-about players during the transfer window.
Eduardo Camavinga’s omission from France’s World Cup squad cranked up speculation that he could be on the move this summer.
The Madrid star has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu Stadium after a series of disappointing performances, but could bounce back in different surroundings.
The 23-year-old could be an ideal signing for Man United, although they appear to have their sights set on other targets.
