It has been reported by journalist Anthony Joseph that the two Championship sides are considering reigniting their summer interest in the player.

The South Korea international has been in and out of the side at the Glasgow outfit so far this season, with the team struggling for the kind of form you’d associate with the club.

This has led to speculation over the future of the forward, who could make the move to England when the market opens next month.

Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Yang stands to potentially make should he sign for Birmingham or Norwich in the winter window…

Birmingham City’s top earners

Birmingham underwent a busy summer transfer window following their promotion from League One.

The Blues added Kyogo Furuhashi, Demarai Gray, Marvin Ducksch and Christoph Klarer, for example, who are all now the top four earners at the club.

So signing for the Midlands outfit can be quite lucrative for someone like Yang, who would be reunited with his former teammate Furuhashi from their time together at Parkhead.

The former Celtic star is paid more than any other Birmingham player at £35,000 per week, and it’s unlikely Yang will supplant him, if he does arrive in the new year.

Gray receives £30,000 per week, while Ducksch and Klarer are both on £25,000-a-week.

It’s again unlikely that Yang would quite earn this much, as his role in the squad would probably mean he receives between £15,000 and £20,000 per week from the Blues based on his potential importance to Chris Davies’ side.

The South Korea international has potential to be a key part of the side, but his lack of game time at Celtic means he’s likelier to be a squad player at St. Andrew’s, at least initially.

Norwich City’s top earners

Norwich are in a much more precarious position, compared to Birmingham, as January approaches, with the team at risk of relegation to League One.

Philippe Clement will be keen to bolster his attacking options, with the club seeking improvements that can prevent the team from falling into the third tier in 2026.

As such, there may be a greater willingness to pay Yang a higher salary at Carrow Road than at Birmingham.

Having said that, Shane Duffy is the club’s highest earner at the same amount as Furuhashi, £35,000 per week.

Jack Stacey and Mathias Kvistgaarden are next best paid players at £30,000-a-week, while Kenny McLean, Harry Darling, Josh Sargent, Emi Marcondes and Jakov Medic are all receiving £25,000 per week.

On that basis, perhaps a deal around the £20,000 per week mark could be what persuades Yang to join the Canaries in January from Celtic.

Norwich are in need of goals and improved attacking firepower, and the winger might be able to provide that at a reasonable price.
